I am sure you have heard the old adage ' the pen is mightier than the sword'.  Many people have debated this particular quote for eons. While in the midst of a fist-to-fist fight it may pay off to have a sword to win the battle, when it comes to battles of the heart a number of words can wield amazing power.
Sometimes words are meant to grab one's attention. Sometimes words are chosen to be painful. But perhaps, the best use of words is to soften or even melt the heart of someone you care for.
Are you thinking you have no idea how to use words to melt someone's heart? Perhaps you are thinking you are not a poet so this is something you cannot do. Well, we have some good news for you. You don't have to be the one doing the writing to be able to use words to melt someone's heart.
For centuries there have been brilliant writers of all kinds. Many of them penned plays, sonnets, books and music. They were often masters of words. And their words are still around for all of us to use today. For example let's use this quote:
"It's been said that you only truly fall in love once, but I don't believe it. Every time I see you, I fall in love all over again."
What a sentiment! Whether you wrote it or not, when you give that quote to someone, and they think that is how you are feeling about them, they are going to get that flutter in their heart. This is how quotes can be used. They do not have to be yours for you to give them.
Here's another one:
"You know you truly love someone when everyday you meet is like the first time you fall in love."
If you are looking into the eyes of that person you love when you say words like this, or holding their hand as they read a card that you hand wrote those words on, you are going to be striking emotional gold. That is the type of thing every person wants to hear from the person they love. They want to know that they are loved and adored and that the person who is with them feels that same 'perfect love' every time they are together.
Do you really want to have an impact? Well consider this situation. You take that person you love out for an evening and at the end of the evening go stargazing. You find a perfect spot where there is little light from the city or streets nearby and you are able to see the sky filled with the sparkle of millions of stars. Then you deliver the following quote:
"If I could reach up and hold a star for every time you've made me smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of my hand."
What a romantic moment! The only way you could possibly make it better would be to drop to one knee and have a sparkling diamond ring in the palm of the hand that you use to accentuate the moment.
This type of impact can be had whether you are there in person or not. You could speak the words or you could write them and hand deliver them. Better yet, think of having a loving, heart melting quote hand written in a note that you sneak into the suitcase of your loved one as they head out on a trip. The ways to use those quotes is endless.
